Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Test available in Houston, Dallas and Santa Monica (CA)

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that detects electrical activity in your brain using small, metal discs (electrodes) applied to your scalp. The brain cells communicate via electrical impulses and are active all the time. This activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording. The brainwave observations can diagnose a variety of conditions, from seizures to epilepsy.

At Texas Brain Institute, we perform routine and ambulatory EEGs to help us better detect a variety of brain-associated disorders and conditions. Routine EEGs usually only last up to a maximum of 60 minutes, which can be insufficient for detecting certain conditions. Ambulatory EEGs are longer-term measurements of your brain that can last up to 3 or 4 days and can be done at home with 24-hour live monitoring. The tests are intermittently monitored by our Board-Certified neurologist. The reports are also interpreted by a neurologist.

Texas Brain Institute is in conjunction with LifeSciences Imaging Partners to perform various diagnostic testing such as Electroencephalogram (EEG). LifeSciences Imaging Partners has several locations across Houston and Dallas /Fort Worth. LifeSciences Imaging Partners accepts Medicare and is in-network with all major healthcare providers. Texas Brain Institute will accept Letter of Protection (liens) if you are represented by a counsel or self-paid, and we will work with your insurance if your type of evaluation or treatment does have insurance coverage.
